Programme

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene

Community-led improvements that bring safer water closer to rural households.

Programme area

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene

Distance from safe water sources places a disproportionate burden on women and girls and exposes households to preventable health risks.

Community water access

PIDA reports improving two natural spring wells to respond to acute water shortages. The intervention was supported by a grant associated with Global Greengrants Fund and is reported to have improved water access for approximately 1,000 community members.

The website uses “improved access” rather than the profile’s phrase “saving 1,000 lives” until the outcome measure and beneficiary methodology are formally verified.

Future work

PIDA seeks support for safer water infrastructure, sanitation awareness and community ownership of water points in underserved and hard-to-reach areas.
